It is great when a student will take on a creative approach for an assignment. I have often wondered if it were possible to put objectives out there and have the student figure out how best to accomplish the objective. Probably risky, but worth a try. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for tagging me! Ian Hecht (fallapart) also tagged me, so I guess I'll have to do it. Unfortunately, you said I am funny, so now I have to live up to THAT. Thanks. That's way too much, pressure, man! ;-)

Hi Cory,
Thanks for tagging me. Writing my 7 Things meme post is defiinitely on my list. I was like you in school. Not a great student. I was an original "crack baby." That is, I slipped through the cracks throughout school and at no point did anyone realize that I needed remediation in math or whatever (ok, math). I became a teacher to provide a different experience for the kids I taught, as well. Good post!

So cool to read this! Thanks for taking the challenge. It's amazing how our own school experiences shape the kind of educator we are and why we do what we do. I absolutely respect the reasons you teach. I'm sure, whether they realize it now or not, you have made a significant difference for students because you care.

Hi there Cory, I started a ning for our high school and am still very interested in having a conversation with you about it. So far we only have a couple admin and teachers on it. I'm not ready to go live with students until i get a better handle on the potential risks and methods to manage those risks. As administrator to the ning, will i have rights to remove postings? Have you had to remove postings? Is your school ning private? ow do you prevent students from signing up with a bogus name?
